Black Bear and Fishing Combo
Anyone interested in bear hunting should experience a coastal black bear hunt in Prince William Sound. This is truly a one-of-a-kind hunt. There’s something so special about stalking these awesome bears on an intertidal beach, the shore just starting to green up, and the mountain beside still heavily snow covered and towering into the clouds. The tough conditions they live under give them what are widely regarded as the finest black bear hides in the world – rich, thick, beautiful fur. The population is quite dense, and bigger boars are readily found guarding the best habitat. It’s not uncommon for us to see multiple bears on a single hillside, or along a stretch of beach.
We pair this hunt with fishing as the weather allows – usually getting two or three days of fishing is not a problem. Halibut are moving into the area, and King Salmon can be caught year-round, along with Rockfish and Cod.
Captain Nate will guide you for fishing, but we will be operating as a transporter for hunting. This means we cannot guide Black Bear hunters. The Theodore Jean is equipped with a 12’ Alaska Series inflatable boat and 15hp outboard, which Captain Nate will use to bring you to shore and back. Hunters will have a lot of success and see a lot of bears, but please know we won’t be able to pack or process meat/skin, remain on shore with you while you’re hunting, glass for bears on your behalf, provide gear used for big game hunting, or other services that would constitute guiding or outfitting for big game.
